It’s Burnout Season (if you’re misaligned)

It’s that time of year where everyone says it’s the most wonderful time of year but most of you are barely holding on. You’re having heart palpitations because it’s the time of year where you experience the most burnout.

You think “maybe this year will be different” or “I think I’m on top of all the things so I’m fine” or you totally ignore your own feelings and lie to yourself saying “I’m doing great” while simultaneously self-medicating with 2-3 glasses of wine and takeout again because that’s how you’re coping.

Let’s talk about how we can work through this and let’s bring in the most critical energetic tool you can have in your toolkit: your Human Design Type. Don’t know your type? Go to myhumandesign.com and get it for free.

Manifestors

My Manifestors, you guys have a short energy battery. You work best when you work in bursts of energy. You are not meant to go go go. You are most powerful and effective when you lean into only working in these little energy bursts. In fact, you are meant to rest about 70% of the time. When you rest, you allow yourself the space you need to come up with new ideas, work through your to-do list, and accomplish everything in between. You likely have the most energy in the mornings, you taper off sometime between 12 and 3:30 and then have a little kick of energy between 4 and 7. So, schedule your day accordingly. Work through the things that take the most energy in the morning, rest in that 12-3:30 time slot, and pick up those less energy draining tasks up towards the end of the day. When I say rest, that can mean anything that gives your brain a break: taking a walk outside, reading a mindless book, or literally taking a nap; dealers choice just make sure you are relaxed. HINT: if you work a corporate job, schedule your lunch during that rest period and any tasks that are a little more mindless aka the ones you could really do with your eyes closed.

When you work against that short energy batter you are headed straight for burnout. If you’ve already hit burnout find out how to work in time to rest ASAP. You will not make it through this holiday season without your rest. And, for the love, do not compare yourself to the people who are “doing it all” and “on the go all the time” ; it’s not a race. It’s called leaning into your intuition and feeling grounded.

Generators & Manifesting Generators

My Generators and Manifesting Generators, you guys have the most consistent amount of energy out of all the types. However, you are led by your joy. You hit burnout when you start “should-ing” all over yourself. You start doing all the things you hate during this time of year. This looks like volunteering for everything at your kids school because you feel like you “should” or cooking all of Thanksgiving dinner even though you hate making the stuffing and would rather just enjoy your family watching a movie in the living room. It’s called getting creative with your joy. Start getting curious about what actually lights you up during this holiday season and focus on doing those things. Start setting boundaries for yourself around everything else. Hate making cookies for your kid’s school? Cool, don’t do it – buy that dessert and stop worrying about making something “perfect” based on the unrealistic expectations you have set for yourself. You are the one putting all the pressure on yourself.

You burn out when you lose sight of your joy in the name of being perceived as being the most perfect version of yourself.

Projectors

My Projectors, you guys have a short energy batter. Much like Manifestors, you are not meant to go go go. You need rest 70% of the time. If you are trying to juggle everything under the sun during the holidays delegate where you can. You were not made to “do it all.” You are most effective when you give yourself rest and then guide us through this season. You guys are incredibly good at making life more efficient and move smoothly. You are the guides of the collective and see things so clearly when you’ve had your rest. Use that to your advantage because when you’ve had your rest, you are able to finish that to-do list with a level of efficiency that no other type can.

However, you’re going to burn out if you try to operate like a Generator and get it all done over an entire day. No, you can get it all done much faster if you just allow yourself to rest. Trust in that when you start feeling burnt out this season. Take a nap and have a lil snack, okay? Resting is your secret super power.

Reflectors

My Reflectors, you do not have a consistent energy battery and you are highly affected by your environments. When I say environment I mean everything from the physical place you’re in to the people you’re surrounding yourself with. This means setting boundaries so that you are only stepping into environments where you feel grounded and supported. I understand this can be a little tricky during the holidays because you may have certain family obligations. That’s where learning how to ground yourself before these events and cleansing your energy after is going to be crucial. Find a meditation you love and practice it before you go to the event. When you come home, open a window and use some sage to cleanse any of that energy that may have come back to you.

It’s easy for you guys to absorb energy from the people who are around you so as your at events this holiday season, remember to be very aware of which emotions are yours and which are those of the the people around you. You burn out when you start taking on the emotions of everyone around you and when you aren’t supported in the environments you’re in so be very careful with where you choose to spend your time this holiday season.

Burnout is a beast, my friends and I know we have all experienced it that we can avoid it if we learn how to hone our own energy. Human Design is that personalized key that you’re missing when it comes to stepping into your power this holiday season and walking into January without all the burnout.
