There are a lot of labels out there. We start being labeled as children “she’s really shy,” “he’s a jock,” “she’s a huge nerd,” “he’s weird,” “she’s a hard worker,” etc. It’s natural to label things and people, it’s just our brain’s way of making sense of things. We take these labels and start making assumptions so we can decide if we like someone or something.
The problem comes when our assumptions are completely incorrect based on the labels we have given someone. We don’t allow ourselves to see someone differently than we’ve labeled them unless our walls our down enough to do so. I believe it’s currently one of our biggest struggles as a society. We leave no room for our own assumptions to be incorrect because it feels good to be right. Yikes guys.
So I ask you, have you ever been mislabeled? Misunderstood? Wishing that you could just explain yourself a little better so that someone could understand where you’re coming from? I think we owe that to one another and I think we can go deeper if we understand our own energy aka our own Human Design.
As a 5/1 Manifestor in Human Design I think differently and problem solve differently than a lot of people. I don’t mean that in a way of “ughh I a so le misunderstood, poor me. It’s rough out here. Le sighhh” but rather, I understand that about myself so I’ve stopped wasting my time over explaining myself because that was pretty exhausting. In a nutshell, I know how to lead with my own intuition without worrying too much that someone is going to put me in a box.
Taking the time to understand myself on a deeper level with Human Design has given me the gift of understanding other Human Design types and giving people a lot more grace. I was even joking with my mentor and friend the other day and said “this work is really bleeding over into my reading life. I know I’m supposed hate this character but I really feel that they are just severely mis-aligned and have some generational trauma even though I know he is truly a piece of shit person.”(side note: if you’re a booktok kind of girly we have a lot to chat about).
Understanding yourself on a deeper level will always bring your more capacity for empathy and understanding. It will help you question the labels you’ve given someone or something and dig a little deeper. Asking “How can I understand where they’re coming from better?” and also knowing that they probably have a different human design than you do and see and move in the world from a completely different perspective.
So, consider this my battle cry for you to understand yourself on the deepest level possible so you can understand your own assumptions and begin holding more space for understanding everyone else around you.
The best thing we can do for ourselves is heal the parts of us that we were never meant to live by and to live from a space of deeper understanding. Human Design does just that.
With so much love,
Mary
